Global Definitions
Avoid redundant tasks and define
objects globally.
You can use to use the Astaro Command Center to centrally define objects and then push them out to your installations, placing objects directly in the target device inventory, ready to be used for building configuration. The key point behind this feature is that objects (which in the past you had to define manually within each device) can now be created once, pushed out, and used within many devices. This not only removes the manual operation of creating the object, but also reduces the workload when changing a device parameter, deleting old or unused objects, and other tasks which would require touching each object from within each WebAdmin.
Description & Screenshots
If
you have a central file server which ten installations access,
with this new feature you do not have to define this file server
object inside all 10 devices to build access rules around it.
Further, if you ever need to change the parameters of this file
server, you do not need to go back and manually touch each device;
just make the change to the object centrally. ACC will automatically
ensure any updates or changes you make to Global Definitions
are updated on the devices which they are deployed to.
If an object already exists locally on a specific installation, you can convert it to a global one simply by matching the parameters and choosing to substitute the existing local definition with its global counterpart during deployment. It is even possible to share global definitions across separate companies managed by the same ACC installation.
Technical Information
- "Make once, use many" approach
- Centrally manage and roll-out Network and Service Definitions
- Automatic re-synchronization of deployed definitions when updated
- Merge existing local definitions with their new central counterparts
- Use "shared" Global Definitions on devices in separate Organizations
Available Platforms
The Astaro Command
Center is available on your choice of three platforms. The software
can be run on a dedicated, Intel-compatible PC of your choice,
or as a Virtual Machine within a VMware environment like VMware
Player or VMware ESX. If you prefer an official Astaro platform,
we offer four dedicated hardware appliance models to choose
from depending on the amount of devices you wish to manage.
Regardless of which one of our available ways you choose to
run ACC, the features and functionality are identical.
General
ACC can be used to manage up
to 500 individual Astaro installations and is designed for the
SMB. Astaro Command Center lets you login and quickly get the
information you need without needing expertise in security device
management. Administrators of all levels who are responsible
for as few as two sites can use it to ease management tasks,
perform configuration, and provide consolidated information/reports.
Minimum Hardware Requirements
- Intel-compatible CPU @ 1.6Ghz
- 1 GB RAM
- 40 GB Hard Disk Drive
- Best performance results are experienced when using hardware specifications at or beyond Intel Dual/Quad-Core CPUs @2GHz+, and 2GB+ of memory. Hardware requirements (including WAN bandwidth for the location hosting the ACC Server) will increase depending on the number of devices being managed.
